   Location and Features of Ruabon

Ruabon is located 6 miles south of Wrexham, just off the main A483 trunk road and on the Chester to Shrewsbury railway line. Ruabon Station is the nearest railway station to Llangollen.

The village has a long history and its main features are the local Iron Age hill fort, the remains of Offa’s dyke and Wat’s dyke, the parish Church, the former Wynnstay hall and the Georgian ‘Wynnstay’ hotel.

The name of Wynnstay is synonymous with Ruabon with the village being the historical seat of the powerful Williams Wynn family.  The name of Ruabon is know far and wide as it gave its name to Ruabon brick, a distinctive  shiny, durable red brick, seen everywhere in buildings in the Wrexham area and beyond.
